Thulie's story

Thulie and her four daughtersGod has blessed me with four amazing daughters and doing their hair is one way that I pour out my love for them.

They have made me realise that hairdressing is not only my passion but also a calling through which I enable women and men to feel good from the inside out so they always leave feeling better than when they came in.

I specialise in maintaining natural African hair and other hair textures without the use of harmful chemicals and artificial products. I hope to eventually start making my own hair products using only natural ingredients. I am good at braiding and dreadlocks but, because I do not like to use chemicals, I do not normally do hair relaxing and perming. By promoting retro braiding styles, I help women to wake up of a morning happy because they do not have to deal with a bad hair day.

People should come to me because, while I am running a business, my prices are fair and what makes me happy is knowing that I regularly exceed my clients’ expectations.

I am good at improvising and I enjoy working with a client to achieve a style that ends up surprising both of us. I love creating and learning new things and keeping up with new trends.

For me it is not just about making money but about making new friends and family. It is about making connections, changing lives, breaking racial boundaries. My door is open to everybody and my varied clientele includes indigenous Australians, Pacific Islanders, Africans, Asians and Caucasians. I want to learn more about all types of hair.
